Is your wildest dream to save thirty bucks this summer????

People! The promise to suspend the gas tax for the summer doesn't "fix" anything and only saves you an average of $2.35 per tank of gas. If this proposal sways your opinion in any way, you probably would also fall for the campaign promise Pedro made to his classmates:

"If you vote for me, all of your wildest dreams will come true."

Come on! Let's show John McCain and Hillary Clinton that we're not as dumb as they think we are!!!!!

I'm going to play devil's advocate on this one. Sure, it doesn't fix anything. It's not going to make a difference to anyone's finances. But it could be a morale boost for some people. It could make people think that the government cares. What's wrong with that? Think of it as good national karma. It may spread. If you fill your tank twice a month, that's $4.70. For just $5.70, you can feed a child in Africa for a month. (Go to http://www.friendsofwfp.org/site/pp.asp?c=7oIJLSOsGpF&b=275057) That's only an additional dollar. Yeah, most people won't think of something like that, but then again, maybe some will.

That's well and good until you consider the job loss and loss of public road financing that also goes along with this tax elimination. Also worth noting is President Bill Clinton introduced a 15 cent gas tax during his presidency that is still in effect and suspending an 18 cent tax for three months doesn't really offset what we've put in since the 90's.

Also, she's not doing it to boost morale, she's doing it to pander and get votes. It's so transparent and fake, it's pathetic!

Let's still all feed a child in Africa, even if the gas tax is there!

Absolutely, McCain and Hillary are trying to buy my vote with this. I can't think any less of Hillary, but McCain does lose some points for this. But do you really think it's going to result in any job loss or loss in public road financing, or are you just saying what the Obama campaign is saying. I don't think there's a negative here. Obama knows that the other two are trying to buy votes, and that's why he's against it. Not because he thinks anything bad will happen. So, Obama loses some points for this too.
