Pumpkin Soup
Halloween was a festive occasion in our home last night. We shared it with three other families this year. I put together a nice spread which included pumpkin soup, green chili cheese cornbread muffins, spider dip, apple bread, homemade chocolate spooky things on a stick, and a deli tray from Kroger. I wish I would've taken a picture of it before everyone started digging in! My favorite thing was the soup! I took a picture of my leftover lunch today so you can see how tasty it looks.

My friend bought me this magazine called For the Love of Pumpkins that had the recipe. The magazine also had tons of beautiful photographs and ideas for how to celebrate the season. I loved the wedding ideas and wish Scott and I could've had an October wedding like the ones picture here.

This page was the inspiration for my white sparkly pumpkins. I didn't want to wait for an October wedding to try them out!

Dia de los Muertos
I finished! This is my best day of the dead altar ever! I got help from my parents and mother-in-law on what to put around each picture. The cloth I used to cover the altar was a gift from my cousin in Huatusco. It's beautifully embroidered and was the perfect touch. I might attempt to make some pan de muertos with a recipe I found. The only thing I have to add is a Cleveland Indians flag for grandma. :)

I love October!
My favorite holiday is approaching! I think I have more Halloween decorations than I do Christmas ones! I got Scott (husband) to bring down all the boxes today between football plays. Now to get them all set up. My Mexican Day of the Dead altar is my favorite thing. I have pictures of loved ones who have passed away and each of them is surrounded with tokens/symbols of their favorite things. It's a nice way to remember them. I'll post a pic as soon as its set up. In the meantime, here's one of my daughter in front of something we've named "Frankenchickenstien." These works of art are up all over town and are created by Mark Cline. He's awesome! Check out his haunted house, if you're in western Virginia.
A message to my beloved Buckeyes: Others may have their doubts about your number one ranking but not me! You deserve it and I hope you keep it through this year's National Championship! GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!
